Social Responsibility

Business practices that reflect our daily concerns with the community

As part of our social responsibility policy and in full compliance with the solidarity principles by which we are governed, SMARTIDIOM’s action plan of various social development projects is updated yearly. Our constant concern has been to develop the communities where we live, which manifests itself in a variety of ways: taking part in local solidarity initiatives, acquisition of equipment that meet the needs of collaborators, sponsorships and supports.

Locally

Associação Sorrisos de Julinha

Book sale

SMARTIDIOM created a campaign to sell books that were donated and the money from these sales was given to Associação Sorrisos de Julinha.

The Sorrisos de Julinha project, a non-profit solidarity association, arose from the movement generated by the “Tampinhas e Companhia” campaign, was created to help small Ana Júlia Sobreiro, who suffered from infantile neuroaxonal dystrophy since she was 15 months old. The collection of bottle tops campaign which mobilised thousands of people enabled us to acquire some technical aids that improved the life of this girl.

Despite not having conquered the disease, Ana Júlia’s smile is an inspiration to the members of the Association, which is dedicated to supporting children with special needs and their families.

Nationwide

União Zoófila

Sponsoring Igor

União Zoófila is a non-profit-making association with over 60 years of history. Its mission is to defend, protect and treat domestic animals at risk. Does not receive any financial support from the State or other public body. It depends on membership fees and on monetary donations and in kind, from those who recognise their work and identify themselves with his cause.

SMARTIDIOM has been a member of União Zoófila since 2015. In February 2014, the company decided to change Igor’s life, a 10 year old small mutt, but with a lot of personality… With only 13 € per month, SMARTIDIOM ensures that Igor is vaccinated, dewormed, eats quality food and, very importantly, goes to the shearing and takes a bathe whenever he wants.

Padrinhos de Portugal

Sponsoring Cristina Pedro

SMARTIDIOM joined the Padrinhos de Portugal in June 2013, a volunteering project to protect disadvantaged children of Mozambique, and sponsored Cristina Pedro. SMARTIDIOM contributed quarterly with 95 euros to ensure the survival and well-being of their new goddaughter: the payment of health costs, a daily meal, books, notebooks, pencils, pens, school enrolment, school fees and uniform.

This project began in November 2002, after the person responsible for the project, Catarina Serra Lopes, spent two months working as a volunteer in Cidade da Beira in Mozambique, with extremely deprived children. The desire to making this better and with greater continuity has led to the idea of building a semi-boarding schools in Alto da Manga, a neighbourhood located in the brushwood, about 15 kilometers from the Cidade da Beira.

Make-A-Wish Foundation

Video subtitling
