SMARTIDIOM in four numbers

SMARTIDIOM is a Portuguese language service provider specialising in translation, localisation and multilingual digital marketing for global LSPs and B2B clients. Since 2012, and our very first client is still with us.

  • 10,000+ projects a year
  • 1,000+ partners in 37 countries
  • Triple ISO certification: ISO 9001, ISO 17100 and ISO 18587
  • Top 5% SMEs in Portugal for the 5th year, Top 10 SMEs in our sector for the 2nd year, and PME Líder status

The role

As a Project Manager, you own each of your projects, from the client's first email to the invoice. Once the invoice is out, the client stays with you as their point of contact for every project that follows. You plan, build the team, and keep deadline, quality and margin under control, then deliver. You look after your own client portfolio within a Project Management team that shares what it knows.

What you will do

  • Run projects end to end: file analysis and preparation, quoting, scheduling, assignment, quality checks, delivery and closure
  • Pick the right resource for every project from our partner network, and negotiate deadlines and rates with vendors worldwide
  • Keep costs and margins on every project under control, and keep our management and invoicing systems accurate and up to date
  • Spot risks before they become problems, and handle the ones that do appear with corrective and preventive action
  • Be the client's point of contact: kick-off calls, setting expectations up front and regular follow-up with key accounts
  • Follow, and make others follow, the processes behind our three ISO standards, including machine translation post-editing projects
  • Help grow the portfolio, with the clients we already have and the ones who do not yet know they need us
  • Question the way we do things and propose better ways

What we ask of you

  • At least one year of experience in project management or at a service company, ideally in the translation industry
  • A university degree in any field
  • Fluent written and spoken Portuguese and English
  • Serious organisation: clear priorities, attention to detail and the ability to keep a cool head under tight deadlines
  • Experience with budgets and cost control
  • Comfortable with Office and computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools
  • Clear, direct and timely communication

You will stand out if you have

  • Knowledge of machine translation post-editing and AI-driven workflows
  • Experience in client management and business development

What we give you

  • Salary: €1,300 to €1,500 gross a month, depending on experience, plus a possible annual merit bonus and a meal allowance of €10.46 per day worked, paid on a meal card
  • Flexibility: remote on Mondays and Fridays, and on Fridays you can finish earlier whenever work allows
  • Real holidays: 24 days a year from your first year, your birthday included, plus one more day after 5 years with us
  • Growth is in the contract: an internal training plan and €600 a year to study whatever you choose
  • Family counts: health insurance for your household, an afternoon off on your kids' birthdays and our "Welcome, Mini-Smartie!" policy for new parents

Before you apply

We will not promise you the kind of happiness it is fashionable to promise. We show you the conditions to succeed with us instead, and our house rules are written down, unfiltered, at smartidiom.pt/en/smarties-team/.

You will fit in if you handle pressure without losing rigour, if you learn fast, if you flag problems early and if "done properly" is your minimum, not your maximum.

You will not fit in if you are looking for a comfortable spot to go unnoticed, wait for instructions instead of looking for the answer, or would rather explain problems than solve them.

How to apply
