Frequently asked questions

Q1Who will translate my content?
Always a human translator: a native speaker of the target language who specialises in your field, never a generalist. For regulated content, the team is chosen by track record in your industry and works with glossaries validated with you.
Q2What's the difference between certified and sworn translation?
Portugal has no sworn translator figure (unlike Spain or Brazil): what official bodies accept is a certified translation: done by a professional translator and certified before a notary, lawyer or solicitador. We prepare the certification the destination country requires and guide you through the apostille when one is needed.
Q3Is a certified translation valid in court?
Yes. We prepare certified translations accepted by courts, notaries and official bodies, with the certification appropriate to the destination jurisdiction: tell us where the document will be used and we'll handle the right format.
Q4How much does professional translation cost?
It depends on the language pair, the technical field, the volume and the level of assurance (translation only, with revision, or with LQA). Pricing is per word, repetitions cost less thanks to translation memories, and quotes are free and non-binding: send us the document and we'll come back with real numbers.
Q5How long does a translation take?
A specialist translator produces on average 2,000–2,500 words a day, plus independent revision. For large volumes we set up teams with shared terminology, and for urgent jobs we have express lanes: tell us the deadline and we'll tell you what's possible without sacrificing quality.
Q6How do translation memories lower the cost?
Everything we've ever translated for you lives in a memory of your own: repeated or similar sentences aren't paid in full again, and consistency across projects stops depending on luck. The longer we work together, the faster and cheaper it gets.
